Silvercrest Appoints Marshall Acuff and Palmer Garson as Managing Directors

Silvercrest Asset Management Group LLC (“Silvercrest”) has appointed A. Marshall Acuff, Jr., CFA and Palmer P. Garson as Managing Directors to augment the firm’s Virginia presence.

Mr. Acuff and Ms. Garson will customize Silvercrest’s comprehensive investment and wealth advisory services to meet the financial goals of ultra-high net worth families and institutional investors. According to Richard R. Hough III, Chief Executive Officer and President, “Marshall and Palmer are well known and highly respected for their ability to help clients address complex investment and financial matters.”

He noted that Mr. Acuff and Ms. Garson reflect Silvercrest’s ethos of placing a premium on the best interests, individualized needs and well-being of clients in a collaborative and collegial manner.

Mr. Acuff and Ms. Garson collectively possess more than six decades of professional investment management and wealth advisory experience working with private clients, family offices, foundations, endowments and other institutional investors. They both were previously partners at Cary Street Partners.

Mr. Acuff will be a member of Silvercrest’s Investment Policy and Strategy Committee. His investment management career includes the establishment of AMA Investment Counsel, LLC in Richmond, VA and, before that, more than three decades at Smith Barney, where he served as a senior member of the Investment Policy Committee. Currently, he is a member of the boards of trustees of the Virginia Retirement System, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges. He has chaired the investment committees of the William and Mary Foundation, Sweet Briar College, the Community Foundation of Richmond and the Virginia Theological Seminary. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Michigan’s Graduate School of Business Administration.

Ms. Garson’s more than 25-year career in financial services began in investment banking and private equity and progressed to wealth management. Earlier in her career she co-founded Jefferson Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and developed extensive finance experience while working for Morgan Stanley & Co., A.G. Edwards and Mellon Bank. Ms. Garson currently serves as a Trustee for the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation and the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges. She is a Director for Xenith Bankshares Inc. as well as for the Investment Committees of Saint Mary’s School and Randolph College. She is also active with Duke University where she currently serves on the Alumni Association Board. Ms. Garson has a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
